Rockford Area Association of REALTORS Mission Statement
The Rockford Area Association of REALTORS (RAAR) is an organization which provides and promotes programs, products and services to enhance members’ ability to conduct their individual businesses successfully. Through collective action, RAAR promotes extension and preservation of the right to own, transfer and use real property. Through education and strict enforcement of the code of ethics it enhances the professionalism and image of the Realtor for the benefit of the community.
PURPOSES
- To attain the highest level of competency, integrity, and fair business practices.
- To prudently manage resources in order to provide programs, products and services which accommodate changing business structures and practices and which assist members in increasing productivity and profit.
- To represent effectively the interest of the members at the local, state, and federal levels of government.
- To increase the public’s awareness of and confidence in our members and the benefits provided by their services.
- To attain a high level of member involvement in and awareness of NAR’s, IAR’s, and RAAR’s committees, programs, and services.
- To promote the availability and affordability of housing.
Rockford Area Association of REALTORS Objectives
- To unite those engaged in the recognized branches of the real estate profession for the purpose of exerting a beneficial influence upon the profession and related interests.
- To promote and maintain high standards of conduct in the real estate profession as expressed in the Code of Ethics of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS.
- To provide a unified medium for real estate owners and those engaged in the real estate profession whereby their interests may be safeguarded and advanced.
- To further the interest of home and other real property ownership.
- To unite those engaged in the real estate profession in this community with the ILLINOIS ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS and the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS, thereby furthering their own objectives throughout the state and nation, and obtaining the benefits and privileges of membership therein.
- To designate, for the benefit of the public, those individuals authorized to use the terms REALTOR® and REALTORS as licensed, prescribed, and controlled by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS.
When is a real estate agent a REALTOR®?
When they are a member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®, The Voice for Real Estate® — the world’s largest professional association. The term REALTOR® is a registered collective membership mark that identifies a real estate professional who is a member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® and subscribes to its strict Code of Ethics.
Founded in 1908, NAR has grown from its original nucleus of 120 to today’s 720,000 members. NAR is composed of residential and commercial REALTORS®, who are brokers, salespeople, property managers, appraisers, counselors and others engaged in all aspects of the real estate industry.
Members belong to one or more of some 1,700 local associations/boards and 54 state and territory associations of REALTORS®. They can join one of our many institutes, societies and councils. Additionally, NAR offers members the opportunity to be active in our appraisal and international real estate specialty sections. REALTORS® are pledged to a strict Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
Working for America’s property owners, the National Association provides a facility for professional development, research and exchange of information among its members and to the public and government for the purpose of preserving the free enterprise system and the right to own real property.
