The HARFORD COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS exists to support all segments of
its membership, in concert with MARYLAND and NATIONAL ASSOCIATIONS OF REALTORS, by
developing and delivering programs, services and related products that will continue to elevate the
standards of the real estate business and the professional conduct of the persons engaged therein, and that
will assist members in ethically and successfully serving the public with the highest degree of professional
ability in matters involving real estate; and through collective efforts:
1. Promote the preservation of the right to own, transfer and use real property.
2. Protect the right of members to conduct business.

Governmental Influences

• To promote regulatory, legislative, and judicial action at national, state and local levels favorable to members and the public and oppose adverse regulatory and legislative issues.
• To reduce the vulnerability of members to unwarranted complaints and litigation.
• Promote and enact clarifying legislation as to the various types of agency practices.
• Promote recognition of HCAR’s presence in local government.

Real Estate Structure and Market

• To promote the affordability and availability of housing.
• To promote member and media knowledge of demographics, market trends and environmental issues that affect our real estate markets.
• To provide HCAR programs and services which allow members to attain a high level of competency.
• To explore changing technologies and practices that enhances programs and services.

Association & Member Services

• To promote the communication of HCAR’s programs and services to the members and public.
• To provide services and programs which are relevant to changing business practices and structure.
• To review the efficiency and effectiveness of the HCAR organization on a regular basis.
• To assist the members in achieving an exemplary level of professionalism, integrity, and fair business practice and to enhance the REALTOR image to the public.
• To promote cooperation between HCAR and other organizations with similar goals.
